Description
This is the second course in a four part series to help the learner prepare to take the PBMT course. Please complete PBMT I (Anatomy) before entering this course.

By the end of this module the learner will be able to:

1. Define sterilization, disinfectants, antibiotics and aseptic procedures. Discuss how these techniques are incorporated into a surgical procedure.

2. Discuss the steps for primary and secondary hemostasis of the coagulation process.

3. Describe the ABO surface antigens and blood compatibility.

4. Describe the RH system of blood.

5. Identify the types of anticoagulants used for blood aspiration.

6. Discuss the anticoagulation infusion rates for blood collection.

As AmSECT University relaunches its professional continuing education website, we are required by the ABCP to resubmit our application for Category I Self Directed Continuing Education (SDCE) for Category I CEUs. AmSECT University has begun this process. At the completion of your course, your certificate will say “pending one (1) ABCP Category I CEU”. You will be notified to reprint your certificates once approval has been granted.

Per the ABCP, a maximum of ten (10) SDCE I CEUs may be used for professional activity recertification within a three-year reporting cycle. Members may submit additional Category III CEUs.
