This short tutorial will cover 3 essential elements to being an effective moderator. This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties. Rather, it is a set of recommendations of key moderator duties developed over years in hosting our conference programs.

The session moderator may be viewed as the master of ceremony of the session. He or she is there to make sure the speakers can do the best job and the audience gets the most out of the session. A moderator introduces speakers. They make sure the speakers stick to the time, and the moderator asks and moderates questions. They are the connecting piece between the different presentation topics.
