Certified Adult ECMO Specialist (CES-A) Exam Review Course: Part IV
This is class four of the four-part review course that was designed for non-perfusionists, perfusionists, and others who are registered to sit for the Adult Certified ECMO Specialist certification exam.

After completing the activities for this course, you will be able to:
1. Identify the devices available for ECMO.
2. Describe safety and various failure modes.
3. Understand the importance for team communication. Understand the principles of a safe and effective ECMO shift hand-off to another specialist.
4. Describe the need for policy and procedures.
5. Address patient issues associated with ECMO challenges.
6. Identify the effects of circuit challenges describing how to care for the patient and manage the

Per the ABCP, a maximum of ten (10) SDCE I CEU’s may be used for professional activity recertification within a three-year reporting cycle. Members may submit additional Category III CEU’s.
